ANIMALS IN THE LANDSCAPE - WATERCOLOUR

RESCHEDULED - 12th DECEMBER 2017


The addition of animals to a landscape painting can help create a sense of life,
scale and movement, as well as providing useful elements to guide the viewer
through a composition. Paul will offer advice on capturing and simplifying the
distinctive forms of rural farm animals such as cows and sheep, as well as how
to integrate them into a scene.

Aimed at students who have some drawing and painting experience.

FARM BUILDINGS IN PEN & WASH - 2nd October 2017

Due to popular demand, here is an opportunity for those who missed the course
in March to try this popular subject and effective medium!

Set in the beautiful Cotswolds, Windrush village is a perfect location for sketching and
painting rural farm buildings. Pen and wash is both lightweight and portable, ideal for
quick onsite sketches as well as more resolved work. On this course, Paul will focus
on techniques for capturing the atmosphere, structure and character of these wonderful
old buildings and the surrounding scenery.

Aimed at students who have some drawing and painting experience.

[b]MARCH 22nd - RIVERS, LAKES & REFLECTIONS

IN WATERCOLOUR

The liquid transparency of watercolour makes it a perfect medium for capturing rivers,
lakes and their ever changing moods. On this course, Paul will demonstrate and offer
advice in achieving a range of key effects, including tumbling waterfalls and streams,
soft, tranquil surfaces and sharp reflections.

JUNE 5th - SKETCHING VILLAGE SCENES IN
PEN & WASH

Lightweight and portable, pen and wash is perfect for making sketches and reference,
recording form, structure, texture and colour. Weather permitting, the aim will be to go out
and sketch the surrounding village of Windrush. Subjects may include cameo details
such as doorways, chimneys and windows, as well as cottage buildings
and the local church.

OCTOBER 19th - 20th - THE AUTUMN LANDSCAPE IN WATERCOLOUR

Combining studio practice with sketching and painting outdoors, this 2 day course will focus
on capturing the fundamental landscape elements of skies, trees, foliage and water.
Paul will also include guidance on selecting, composing and simplifying subjects, as well as
creating a sense of light, mood and atmosphere in your work.
