‘Mixing Greens for trees, foliage and distance’
Green is one of those colours that many students find a struggle to
control when painting landscapes.
This course will cover a variety of colour mixes and watercolour
techniques for creating effective foregrounds, fields, trees, foliage

From dramatic skies, headlands, rocks and breaking surf,
to sweeping beaches, wet sand and reflections, the coastal landscape
provides plenty of inspiring subjects for the watercolourist. Paul will
demonstrate his key techniques and principles for capturing these
elements that you can then apply to your own work.
5th March 2018 - WATERCOLOUR
‘Flowers, fruit and veg’
Flowers, fruit and vegetables are the mainstay of still life, providing
excellent practice for working from observation.
This in turn develops confidence and skills in drawing and painting
for working outside. With advice on sketching and capturing light,
form and proportion, Paul will demonstrate and encourage a loose,
free, painterly approach.
28th March 2018 - ’Sketching in Pencil, Charcoal and Pen’
Drawing is a fundamental creative skill. It is a way of seeing the world
around us, exploring form, structure, texture and tone, as well as developing
ideas and compositions for possible paintings. With practice at working from
observation as well as photographic reference, Paul will guide you through a
range of line and shading techniques in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink.
