25th April - Alla Prima Oils
All Prima uses direct painting techniques for capturing an immediate
impression of the subject ‘in one go’. Working from simple still life and
also photographic reference, Paul will be using water soluble oils, but
traditional oils can also be used if preferred.

26th - 27th May - Populate your Watercolours
Adding figures to a scene can help create a sense of scale and movement
in your work. Sketching and painting from the clothed figure on day 1 to explore
form, proportion and watercolour techniques, Paul will offer guidance on day 2
for adding figures to a simple landscape scene.

Experience in the basics useful.

26th June - Watercolour En Plein Air
Watercolour is a perfect medium for painting out of doors, capturing mood,
light and atmosphere at first hand. With demonstrations and supportive
guidance, Paul will offer advice on choosing subjects, planning, composition
and his creative strategy for getting the best from an
on-site painting.

Experience in the basics useful.

3rd July - Sketching techniques in Line & Wash
Lightweight and portable, line and wash is ideal for making a quick sketch or
developing more resolved work back in the studio. Drawing with sharpened sticks,
pens, cardboard and brushes in combination with loose, watercolour washes,
Paul will demonstrate how to create lively, expressive work with this versatile medium.

Suitable for all levels.

18th September - Drawing from Observation
Drawing is a fundamental creative skill, a way of seeing the world around us, exploring form,
structure, perspective, texture and tone, as well as developing ideas for possible paintings.
Paul will guide you through his techniques for sketching and drawing from life in pencil,
charcoal, pen and ink, taking the surrounding gardens, house and views as inspiration.

Suitable for all levels.

27th October - Atmospheric Interiors in Watercolour
Room interiors can make exciting subjects, be it a shed, old barn, restaurant
or stately home. Windows, doors, figures and reflective surfaces of floors and
furniture create dramatic forms and light effects. Paul will combine studio practice
and working from life, helping you explore the atmospheric potential of
room interiors.

Experience in the basics useful.

7th November - Autumn and Winter Landscapes in Watercolour
The seasons of autumn and winter provides a wonderful range of subjects for the
landscape painter. Paul will cover his techniques for capturing trees, foliage, rivers

across snow.
